The Surgery is open as follows:

The surgery is closed from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm daily, and from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm one Thursday afternoon each month for training purposes (date displayed).

Ashton Leigh & Wigan Out of Hours Service provides cover for the practice out-of-hours in an emergency. They can be contacted on 01942 829 911. Ashton Leigh & Wigan PCT are responsible for comissioning these services.

Unnecessary calls only delay the treatment of the real emergencies.
Appointments
Appointments can be booked via the telephone, the internet or in person. Telephone 01257 253311 from 8:00 am Monday to Friday or use the Internet via EMIS Access (please register at reception to use this service) to book an appointment.
The surgery is running Advanced Access which has improved our waiting times, provides a better service to patients and makes better use of the doctors and nurses time.
How does our Appointment System work?
- Urgent cases are seen on the day
- Non-urgent cases - you can expect to see a GP within two working days, though you may have to wait a little longer if you want to see a particular.
The majority of our appointments are booked on the day so this means that you only need to ring on the day you wish to be seen. However, we do forward book some of our appointments, up to two weeks in advance, for those patients who find it more convenient to forward book an appointment.
You may be asked some questions when you contact the surgery to make an appointment. This is so that we can offer you an appointment with the most appropriate person for your condition and you may be offered an appointment with a doctor, nurse or health care assistant.

Home Visits
Please try to attend the surgery whenever possible. Several people can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to see one at home. HOwever, we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot attend the surgery.
Please ring before 11:00 am to arrange a visit. Emergency requests will be accepted at all times between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm.
Repeat Prescriptions
These are available by computer printout, after being authorised by the doctor who initiates treatment. This ensures correct dosage and a 28 day supply of medication.
Prescriptions can be requested as follows:
- by ticking the items you require on the computer slip and returning to the surgery
- by letter
- in person
- via the internet using EMIS Access (please register at reception to use this service)
We do not accept telephone requests for patients safety.
Prescriptions can be collected 48 hours after request, or posted to you if a stamped addressed envelope is supplied.
Our local pharmacies also provides a collection and delivery service and you should contact them directly to arrange this.
Please allow 48 hours notice (2 working days) for prescription requests.
