Investors in People Accreditation
The whole team at Shevington Surgery aim to provide the best possible care for our patients. To help us achieve our aims, we embarked on the Investors in People programme in 1995, gaining accreditation in 1996.
Every member of staff has a personal development plan which meets the needs identified by the practice. Monthly staff training sessions take place every fourth Thursday, the Primary Health Care Team meets every fourth Wednesday and the partners meet monthly for education sessions.
We all try to understand each others role so that we can work better together. We welcome patients'

An Investor in People makes a public commitment from the top to develop all employees to achieve its business objectives:

An Investor in People reviews the training and development needs of all employees:
- Personal development plans
- Appraisal systems
- Job descriptions
- Job rota/shadowing
An Investor in People takes action to train and develop individuals on recruitment and throughout their employment.

An Investor in People evaluates the investment in training and development to assess achievement and improve future effectiveness.

| April 1994: | Action plan. Staff interviews and questionnaires. Training needs analysis. |
| June 1994: | Business plan. |
| July 1994: | Mission statement. Written commitment to Metrotec and FHSA. Individual development plans. |
| August 1994: | Business plan and mission statement finalised. |
| October 1994: | Primary health care team team building sessions. |
| November 1994: | Review of the appraisal system. |
| February 1995: | Staff appraisal portfolio. |
| August 1995: | Portfolio completed. |
| September 1995: | Portfolio reviewed by assessor. |
| October 1995: | On-site interviews and assessment. |
| November 1995: | Recognition panel award IIP. |
| November 1998: | Reaccredited as an IIP. |
