We work with our local practices to offer an extended hours service via the Wigan GP alliance. Appointments are available throughout the week.
We also offer Saturday morning appointments from 08:00 to 11:20
Please note, we are unable to offer an emergency service on a Saturday morning and patients will be referred to the most appropriate NHS service e.g. Walk-in Centre, Out of hours service, pharmacy or A&E.
On Saturday the reception desk is open until 12:00 but the telephones will not be answered.
If you require urgent medical assistance that cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please dial 111. Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.
Alternatively your local pharmacy is able to offer advice and treatment for minor ailments or you can contact the Wigan GP Alliance Service throughout the week and at weekends, for an appointment with a GP, Practice Nurse or other clinical staff member on 01942 482848.
The Wigan GP Extended Hours Service offers appointments with Nurses for a variety of services and reviews between 18:30 – 20:00 weekdays and 10:00 – 16:00 on Saturdays.
The appointments are for:
- cervical smears
- contraceptive pill checks
- Long term condition reviews – asthma, COPD, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, diabetes (annual bloods need to be done at least 3 days before review), ischaemic heart disease (annual bloods need to be done at least 3 days before review.
